Package of Supportive Measures and Arrangements NTHU will Provide

1. Statutory Salary

    NTHU will provide the statutory salary including the Original Salary (Basic Salary), the Academic Research Allowance, and the Supervisor Allowance.

    The statutory salary will not be less than the statutory salary for the same level of teaching positions at national university.

    The salary scale for a full-time professor rank member is from NT$100,165 to NT$116,825 per month based on Teacher Remuneration Act.

        (Supplement Description) Nonstatutory (Additional) Salary

        Yushan Scholars and Yushan Young Scholars may not apply for subsidies (flexible salaries) provided by the Ministry of Education (MOE).

        If approved by the MoE Yushan Scholar Program, the MoE will provide the subsidy of nonstatutory (additional) salary:

  • Yushan Scholars may receive nonstatutory salary of no more than NT$5 million annually; the nonstatutory salary can be approved once for 3 years. Scholars for short-term exchange are granted nonstatutory salary proportionally according to their service period.
  • Yushan Young Scholars may receive nonstatutory salary of no more than NT$1.5 million annually; the nonstatutory salary can be approved once for 5 years.

         (Supplement Description) Flexible Salary Reward

        If not approved by the MoE Yushan Scholar Program, NTHU will provide Flexible Salary Reward if it conforms to the regulation of the NTHU Newly-Recruited Faculties Flexible Salary Reward.

        After the duration of NTHU Newly-Recruited Faculties Flexible Salary Reward, faculty members may apply Performance-based Salary Scale for the Recruitment and Retention of Outstanding Faculty and Research Staff at National Tsing Hua University to obtain Flexible Salary Reward.

2. Supportive benefits

(1)  Overall package of supportive measures and arrangements the university will provide

    A. National Tsing Hua University Newly-Recruited Faculty Academic Research Subsidy (start-up subsidy)

NTHU provides the Academic Research Subsidy (start-up subsidy) to help the newly-recruited faculties build up their research labs and facilities, and encourage them concentrate on research. Within six months after reporting, the newly-recruited faculties can apply for the subsidy. After approval, in principle every applicant can obtain NTD$ 1.5 million at most provided together by department, college and university.

 

    B. Guest House and accommodation subsidy

(a) Guest HouseIn principle the newly-recruited faculties have the priority to apply to live in Guest House Ⅲ, single room or double room. Besides, the newly-recruited faculties also can apply to live in Guest House Ⅰ or Guest House Ⅱ. (b) Accommodation subsidyIf it conforms to the regulation of the accommodation subsidy in NTHU, the newly-recruited full-time faculties have the option to apply for the accommodation subsidy (up to NTD$10,000 per month) for a duration of three years.

 

    C. Education of children

(a) Children of the newly-recruited full-time faculties have the priority to apply to study in the Affiliated Kindergarten or Affiliated Experimental Elementary School of National Tsing Hua University.

(b) Children of faculties in NTHU are eligible for admission to apply to study in the Junior high school Department、Elementary Department, or Kindergarten Department in National Experimental High School at Hsinchu Science Park.

    D. Other Employee Benefits

(a) Birthday vouchers:Every full-time faculty member will receive the birthday vouchers every year.

(b) Health-check subsidy:Every full-time faculty member over 40-year-old can apply for the health-check subsidy once every two years.

(c) Group insurance at one's own expense

(d) Deposits at preferential interest

(e) Using sports complexes and equipment at a preferential price

 

    E. Teaching Resources Support

(a) Orientation for Incoming Faculty:A two-day orientation for new faculty members is held annually during the first week of September at NTHU.

(b) Faculty Workshop:A series of workshops are offered to further improve the education quality at NTHU.

(c) Funding for Teachers' Community:Funding for Teachers' Community is provided to enhance and activate teachers interflow and cooperation.

(d) Individual Teaching Improvement through Consultation and Videotaping:Courses are videotaped and reviewed by experienced expert teachers in the same academic field who also give feedback on the applicants teaching.

(e) Curriculum and Teaching Innovation Mini- Project:Funding is available to facilitate the creation of innovative curriculum.
